Effective date: May 26, 2026
ReceiptTax ("the App") helps freelancers and 1099 contractors scan receipts and auto-categorize expenses for tax purposes. We care about your financial privacy. This policy explains what we handle. We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not require an account.
To digitize a receipt, you photograph it or pick an image from your library. Before your first scan, the App asks for your explicit permission to send that image to our third-party AI provider, Google Gemini (see §4). Only the single receipt image you are scanning is sent — it is used to extract vendor, amount, date, and a suggested IRS Schedule C category, and for no other purpose. We do not store your receipt images on our servers. If you decline, no image is sent and AI scanning stays off.
Once a receipt is processed, the structured data (vendor, amount, date, category, notes) is stored locally on your iPhone only. This includes:
None of this is uploaded to our servers. Reports you export (CSV / PDF / IRS bundle) are generated on-device and shared via iOS's standard share sheet.
The App's category suggestions are heuristic and based on common Schedule C patterns. This is not professional tax advice. Consult a licensed accountant or tax professional before filing.
ReceiptTax Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed by Apple. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
No third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, no tracking pixels. Crash diagnostics use Apple's standard opt-in mechanism.
ReceiptTax is rated 4+ and intended for adult freelancers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Significant changes will be noted with a revised effective date.
